April 20

had a photo shoot in Geneva this morning. 1200 kids. 7 hours of shooting, no break, and I didn't get to eat at all. At least the water fountain was flowing with incredibly cold water. Score. Should be a BIG money maker. Always love those! You know that if Karl is impressed with the number of envelopes, then it'll be a nice haul.

Up to the grandparents tonight. Their back yard was like a bird haven. Too bad the 70-200 with the extender is still not enough length for birds. Those two above are cropped like mad. Suck.

We then had a Passover Seder. Always a good time!

Peace.

The jury is still out on the Extender, me thinks. I feel like there are more soft images than usual in the pictures I took from this soccer game. Though it could be that its the 5D's not-designed-for-sports focusing system. Or I suck. Which is possible.

April 14

That's the newest member of the family! Funny how this photography thing goes... I remember WAY back (haha, barely a year ago!) I would have anguished over buying a piece of equipment that cost $300... But when I order this puppy, I barely batted an eye. Wow. So far, its pretty sweet! Should be every beneficial with the outdoor sports shoots! In fact, all the above pictures where taken with it on my venerable 70-200 f2.8L. Rockin.

But today was rough. I was up until about 6.30am working on an assignment and chatting with a friend. Yeah. Could barely stay awake in my first class, so I skipped my second and went home and slept for 2 hrs.

And then the fun started.

I got my shoot mixed up, I had the one today and one for Thursday. The Thursday one is up in Richmond, IL near the WI border. But, for some reason I thought that one was today. So I get all the way up to Richmond and find that I am supposed to be at HD Jacobs in Algonquin. Suck. 3hrs of driving and I am still there an hour late. So yeah, the shots aren't super great.

Anyway, tired as heck. Time for sleep!

Little brother's 20th. And Grandpa's 84th. Good times at Lou Malnati's!

We all pitched in and got my brother a new computer, which he needed pretty bad. Its nothing outrageously fast, but compared to the computer he is coming from, BIG difference.

My littlest sister Rachel doesn't like her picture being taken, because she assumes there is always a flash. I keep telling her I don't even have one on my camera, still she gives me funny looks!

Got the new toys today! The umbrella light is a ton of fun, now I just need to figure out how to use it. Good times!

Supposed to shoot a baseball game today, its going to be brutally cold and rainy. According to their sports hotline, its actually a double header... Don't think I am gonna stay for both games.

Peace.

April 10

Hey, sorry I don't have anything new to post. I just ordered some new equipment, so be looking forward to some new stuff!

I bought a Canon 1.4x Extender, a Male to Male PC sync cord (time to get that flash off the camera!) and a 45" Umbrella for my flash. Should be a grand ol' time!

I am shooting another baseball game this Saturday (weather is going to be sucky) and hopefully the Extender would help a ton.

April 6

Last day.

The weather was phenomenal for the weekend. Couldn't have asked for nicer weather.

It was really an incredible retreat, got a great opportunity to get to know the students and have some fun! I needed a break too.

The two cabins we stayed in where called Hardtimes and Kenny's Song. I stayed in Hardtimes, which is the one in the picture above.

Then we played some tackle football (surprisingly, no one got hurt).

Then one of the students got bet $8 to eat a large spoon full of Crisco. Made me want to puke just watching. Amazingly, he didn't. Crazy.

And why did we have Crisco? Well, for greased-up-watermelon football of course!

First day of the Mantreat!

Rockin good times.

Went out to Sister Lakes, Michigan. I think so far, my favorite state (at least, ones that I have gone to) is Michigan, though Colorado was pretty rocking. Though I think my perspective is a bit biased, as I have only gone on retreats in Michigan in the middle of no-where.

This was with the youth group I work with in Bartlett. It really was awesome.

First Baseball game! Was a lot of fun, except when it started raining in the 5th. I took off one of my T-Shirts and used to to cover my camera. Was able to shoot for another inning before I had give up and keep my equipment safe. I shot all these at ISO1600.

Rawk.
